Clueless how to keep the kids busy without any screen time? Here are some tips to burn that restless energy.
Summer sweltering heat is upon us. The schools are off and the kid’s summers holidays have already begun and it’s nothing less than a conundrum to make them busy during this time. Gone are the days when we would just make plans to take kids out for a beach day or going to the park (all thanks to the pandemic). Now if you are baffled as to how to productively spend some time with kids, stop scratching your head because we have sorted it out for you with some of the activities. So why not spend some mom and dad time with the kids and keep them busy.
Lego Time With The Kids:
It is by far one of the best innovative games one has witnessed which looks as real as in real life. It is challenging, it is creative, it’s diverse, comes for all age groups, and has the ability to keep your child busy for hours. Yes, literally hours!! Also, it’s a great way to spend the quality time with the child. So, what are you waiting for? Why not indulge in some mom-child time! Get hold of Lego classic sets and help them bring out their creative side in full bloom. Challenge them to make the biggest Burj Khalifa and see if they can do it!!
In UAE, you can get Legos easily from their online portal, Amazon, toysrus, and also available in Motion gate Legoland if you get a chance to visit.
Dough Or Slime Making Activity:
This summer holidays, let yourself a little loose and let your kids be a little messy, and help them bring out their creative side. Dough and slime making is one such activity that’s bound to develop their fine motor skills and improves hand-eye coordination. Also, it can be easily made with all the safe ingredients available in your pantry. All you need is some flour, salt, food colour of your choice, and some baking soda to make a dough, and voilaaa a perfect recipe is ready. Get your little ones some cookie cutters and shape and keep your child busy for hours and hours.
Some Much-Needed Reading Time:
“Books are just TV for smart people.” Well, that’s not entirely incorrect. Divulge in the world of imagination by reading a book with your child. It is not only a great bonding time between parent and child, it will improve their language skills and also will help them to express better from an early age. Start with Hungry Caterpillar, Dr. Seuss Series, Roald Dahl, Mr. Men, and Little Miss series and explore the world of books as you go on. These books are easily available in Kinokuniya,
A Day Of Role-Play With Few Friends:
Remember how in old times girls would play for hours with their kitchen sets and boys with doctor toy sets. Well, times have changed and so should you. Invite a few of your childhood friends and give your kids their favourite role to play and it will definitely bring a smile to their faces. From chef to an artist to astronaut, set aside a day for role-playing, and involve your children in every step of the process. They will spend hours planning and executing their favourite play while you can volunteer to be part of the main event by being makeup artists, judges for their little efforts.
Drawing Books And Sticker Activities:
Give them their favourite colours, markers, paints, or crayons. Let them spend hours with their favourite drawing books. Even mandala drawing books can be used to relieve their energies and stress as well. Or just hand them empty coloured sheets or print some sketches of their favourite characters from Pinterest (it’s a world of its own). Also, stickers activity books are easily available everywhere based on themes.
See due to COVID, everything is in lockdown and we are unable to take kids out but that doesn’t mean the kids are going to stop! With the free time they have, they need all the more activities to be busy.
