Many hearts were broken when news about actor Sanjay Dutt being diagnosed with lung cancer made headlines earlier this year. While the Bollywood superstar requested his fans and well-wishers to pray for his quick recovery, it seems like their prayers have been answered. The Munna Bhai actor recently shared that he has emerged “victorious” from his battle with cancer. Issuing a statement on Twitter, Dutt penned, “My heart is filled with gratitude as I share this news with all of you today. Thank you. The last few weeks were a very difficult time for my family and me. But as they say, God gives the hardest battles to his strongest soldiers.”

He continued, “And today, on the occasion of my kids’ birthday, I am happy to come out victorious from this battle and be able to give them the best gift I can-the health and well-being of our family. This wouldn’t have been possible without the unwavering faith and support from all of you. I am eternally grateful to my family, friends, and all the fans who have stood by me and been my source of strength through this trying time. Thank you for the love, kindness and countless blessings that you have sent my way.”

Dutt also thanked the great team of doctors who were a pillar of support for him while he was undergoing treatment. “I am especially grateful to Dr. Sewanti and her team of doctors, nurses, and the medical staff at Kokilaben Hospital who have taken such good care of me in the last few weeks. Humbled and grateful.” Last week, one of Dutt’s family members said, “The news was like he has got six months or this month to live, (but) it has never been that scene. He was detected with a kind of lung cancer for which treatment started in Mumbai and he has responded very well to the treatment. He went for his test today and the results have come out very good. With God’s grace and everyone’s blessings, he has responded very well.”
