Pakistan Super League (PSL) 2020 was postponed last year due to the coronavirus outbreak in the country, with teams wrapping up and heading back to their homes overnight. They returned several months later, in November, to continue the game, with Karachi Kings being crowned the champions. All is well that ends well, and so, PSL 2021 kicked off in all its glory in February this year. However, following a number of matches, the Pakistan Cricket Board (PCB) was unfortunately left with no choice but to delay the tournament once again, after seven players tested positive for Covid-19 this week. The PCB noted the decision had been taken out of consideration for the health and wellbeing of all participants.
“Following a meeting with the team owners and considering the health and wellbeing of all participants is paramount, the Pakistan Cricket Board has decided to postpone the HBL Pakistan Super League 6 with immediate effect. The decision was made after seven cases were reported in the competition, which had started on 20 February,” the cricket body revealed in a press release. “The PCB will concentrate on safe and secure passage for the participants and is set to arrange repeat PCR tests, vaccines, and isolation facilities for the six franchises,” it added.
Twitter users have been expressing great disappointment over the latest development. Here are mixed reactions:

PCB is responsible for this. Why PCB allowed the owners and outsiders to sit in the dugout with players? Why they allowed two Peshawar Zalmi members (one is captain) to participate after they breached protocols??
Is PCB hijacked by team owners??#PSL6 #PCB #PSL2021 #PSLPostponed— Zulfiqar Ali (@imZulfiqarAli19) March 4, 2021

PSL Postponed With Immediate Effect After Seven Players Test Positive For Covid-19
“Saddest news on the internet today. #PSLPostponed,” wrote one user. Referring to the past horrific year, another added, “Yeh dukh khatam nahi hotay (These heartbreaks don’t stop).” Another broken cricket fan wrote, “Kisi ko hamari khushi bardast hi nahi (No one can take our happiness) #PSLPostponed.” A Lahore-based user penned, “Lahore Qalandars jab top 4 mein aty hain PSL he postponed ho jata hai. Hamara kya kasoor hai bhae? (What is our fault in this?).” One more lamented, “PSL 6 postponed or cancelled don’t know what will happen but thanks to all the irresponsible players and management for ruining the whole tournament for us.” Replying to the post, a user responded, “It’s no one’s fault except Covid-19.”
