“Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi” is a show that may not have been bringing in incredibly high ratings, but has been earning unanimous praise from Pakistani drama viewers consistently. Starring Yumna Zaidi, Wahaj Ali, Nauman Ijaz, Yasra Rizvi, Omair Rana, Samiya Mumtaz, Noor Ul Hassan and others, the story has been written by Amna Mufti and directed by Kashif Nisar. Sponsored by the Kashf Foundation, “Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi” has painted a realistic picture of how the human trafficking trade works and how long their reach is.
With the last episode airing next week, “Dil Na Umeed Toh Nahi” has reached its culmination point. Episode 23 is a Zulfi-centric episode with Zulfi’s (Omair Rana) secrets finally revealed to other major characters. Zulfi is a man who has been consistently working to retrieve his younger sister, Aisha, from the clutches of the flesh trade. It’s due to this that Zulfi became involved with the business, hoping to infiltrate it deeply enough to find his sister. It’s tragic then that when Savera (Yasra Rizvi) learns about his secret, she realizes that she has met Aisha and regretfully informs him that Aisha swallowed acid and died years earlier. The irony of this is not lost on Zulfi that his younger sister died in a “kothi” that he used to visit frequently. This moment between Zulfi and Savera leaves an impact, not only because of Zulfi’s search finally ending, but also due to Omair Rana and Yasra Rizvi’s strong chemistry.
Naseem Zehra’s father, Qazi (Noor Ul Hassan) continues to interrogate his daughters over Naseem’s disappearance and extracts the truth from the girls not only about Naseem’s true intentions for escaping, but also Najma’s (Samiya Mumtaz) involvement. This has, of course, set him off, furious at both his daughters and his wife. He places a call to Zulfi, informing him that if Naseem isn’t returned home, he will murder Najma and the two other girls. This, of course, sends Zulfi into a panic as he plans Naseem’s return to her family – but is this a wise decision? Is this pushing Naseem back into the circle she so desperately wished to escape?
