“Chupke Chupke” is the runaway hit of the year, drawing in audiences all over the world as they lap up the antics of this bickering family, along with the love stories of Faazi and Meenu and Hadi and Mishi. Written by Saima Akram Chaudhry and directed by Danish Nawaz, “Chupke Chupke” stars Osman Khalid Butt, Ayeza Khan, Arsalan Naseer, Aymen Saleem, Asma Abbas, Uzma Beg, Mira Sethi, Ali Safina, Hira Samroo, Tara Mehmood, Farhan Ali Agha, Qavi Khan and many others in this excellent ensemble cast. “Chupke Chupke” is refreshing in how it tells a story while keeping the laughter going non-stop. And yet, the writing is strong enough to leave an impact on the viewer.
In episode 19, Bade Abba (Qavi Khan) has had enough of Naik Parwar (Asma Abbas) and Bakhtoo’s (Uzma Beg) interference in the lives of their grandchildren. Fearing that the two bickering “Daadis” will force Faazi (Osman Khalid Butt) and Meenu’s (Ayeza Khan) marriage to end, Bade Abba makes a decision that impacts the course of Meenu and Faazi’s life forever. In a hilarious sequence, Faazi and Meenu’s shotgun “rukhsati” takes place as the families are thrown into chaos over this sudden decision. All at once, everyone is left in a panic as Gul (Mira Sethi) begins to play her usual games while Meenu and Faazi try to come to terms with their new life.
What’s great about this episode is that it depicts a very real aspect of human nature – accepting reality. The romantic phase of courtship and planning a grand wedding with all the dressings is a very different scenario from being thrown directly into married life. The reality of their situation has settled on this duo with Meenu mourning the loss of a grand wedding while Faazi is left to deal with his oppressive sisters as they raise hell over this situation sprung upon them. While Meenu and Faazi have been shown as falling deeply in love over the last few episodes, with Meenu even suggesting running away, the two are now seen bickering as the wedding of their dreams has slipped away and they are left to deal with the family drama surrounding them. Where is the room for romance in such a situation? Of course, Meenu and Faazi are not the only ones suffering with Hadi (Arsalan Naseer) and Mishi (Aymen Saleem) arguing on behalf of their siblings while Hadi wonders if their love story will ever amount to anything after all this chaos.

There are some wonderful moments between Hadi and Waleed (Aadi Khan) in this episode, depicting the loving and supportive relationship between these two brothers. Arsalan Naseer and Aadi Khan share great chemistry as perpetually warring brothers who have each other’s backs when it truly matters. The performances of Ali Safina, Mira Sethi, Asma Abbas and Uzma Beg stand out as always. This entire cast is wonderful and it has been a long time since Pakistani drama fans have united in their love for a show to this extent. With only ten episodes left, fans are already mourning the loss of a beloved show. However, the remaining ten episodes promise much more drama – starting with Mirchi’s disappearance!
