From Will Smiths trying it out for the first time to getting verified by the Guinness Book of world record as being the world’s deepest dive pool, here is everything you need to know.
It’s amazing how a man can create innovations that boggle the mind and tell the story of our history and developed skills over time. Dubai, in this regard, has always had a very futuristic approach towards innovating and record-breaking attractions. Already home to the world’s tallest skyscraper and the world’s largest mall, Dubai has yet again outdone itself by opening its record-breaking first deepest dive pool in the world. Let’s get to more about what the first deep dive pool is all about.
His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai, who is known for his love of adrenaline-fueled activities took his 12 million followers on a tour inside the latest attraction, posting a video to Instagram. The oyster-shaped pool (which is a reminder of their UAE pearl diving heritage) has an impressive depth of 60 meters and holds 14 million liters of water. The Guinness World Records verified this as the world’s deepest swimming pool for diving on June 29, beating Poland’s DeepSpot which is 147 feet deep.
According to Deep Dive Dubai, the pool contains an abandoned post-apocalyptic “sunken city” that features various city settings, including benches, streetlights, and storefronts that divers of all levels can explore. A little bit further down, swimmers can see an apartment with a bedroom, kitchen, dining area, and a garage featuring cars, motorbikes, arcade games, and a pool table.
To ensure the safety of the deep pool divers, apart from being the world’s deepest swimming pool for diving, Deep Dive Dubai is also the region’s largest underwater film studio, complete with a media editing room, a video wall, 56 underwater cameras, and the ability to create different moods with 164 lights positioned throughout the pool.
