Kanwal Naseer Passes Away: Celebs Express Grief Over Death Of Pakistan’s First Female TV Host

The first female anchor, announcer and broadcaster of Pakistan, Kanwal Naseer breathed her last on Thursday following a short illness. She passed away in Islamabad in the presence of her close family members. According to multiple media reports, Naseer was suffering from diabetes and was undergoing treatment at a private hospital for the past week, when her condition deteriorated. The Pride of Performance recipient ventured into the media industry and the age of 17 and never looked back since. Born in 1984, she was associated with the country’s leading state-run channel PTV and Radio Pakistan for almost 50 years.

 

 

For the unversed, the renowned TV personality was the daughter of actor Mohini Hameed and the mother-in-law of Pakistan Tehreek-i-Insaf (PTI) Secretary Information Ahmed Jawad. The evergreen beauty served as an inspiration to many artists, who looked up to both her and her work. Mourning her loss, minister Chaudhry Fawad Hussain posted on Twitter, “The first female voice of PTV, the legendary Kanwal Naseer is no more. RIP.”
